Bullet Journaling
I love Pinterest and use it all the time. It is great for finding ideas, but occasionally it can kill ideas too. A few years ago I finally started bullet journaling after many intricate and intimidating Pins.
In reality, bullet journaling was created because sometimes premade planners don’t work for everyone. Sometimes people want to make lists, insert creative charts, or add drawings. I kept Pinning all these fancy journal ideas knowing that I wouldn’t have the time or skill to make them happen. What I really needed was a simple journal that I could make mine and keep lists in. Having appointments in my phone calendar is handy, but I really like to be able to write things down. I think it helps me remember better even when I don’t go back and look at what I write.
Since my son, Owen, was born in October 2019 I have had a hard time keeping up with my bullet journal. It does take a few minutes every morning, and some mornings I just run out of time. But, now I am making the commitment to get back to it.
So here’s how I like to set up my journal and what I do on the daily:
At the beginning of the year I set up a page for each month listing the first letter of the day of the week next to the number. The opposite page I leave blank for monthly tasks that need to be taken care of but that don’t necessarily have a specific date; for example this month - Tax Return.
After I have set up all 12 months I begin the daily entries. The awesome thing about this type of journaling is that you can use one line or 14 lines for the tasks you need to complete that day. I also often note anything of consequence that happened that day; ie. March 20, 2020 - Statewide Shutdown due to COVID19.
Feel free to make things fancy or keep them simple like me. So many people put fancy titles on things and draw awesome charts. Do what works best for you!
Here are some of my favorite journaling supplies:
Leuchtturm 1917 Medium Dotted Notebook - Great quality. And it has a pouch in the back for loose papers.
Sipa Fineliner Pens - These keep their tip really well. And the colors are nice.
Stabilo Point 88 Pens - You can also buy these individually at your local craft store in so many different colors!
Skinny Washi Tape - If you want to add a little extra flare washi tape is an easy way to do it!
I hope this inspires you to get organized in a way that works for you!
Hugs and pens!
