Things that are saving my life right now

With the state of the world being what it is right now it’s important to always look at the little things that make day to day living nice or easy or fun. For me, winter is more challenging. The days are short and stormy, and it’s hard to get motivated. So here are a few things that help me get through the gloom:

Audio Books - I have a fairly new found love for audio books. Now that I have two kids there are a lot more dishes, laundry, and baths to be had. With audio books I can listen while I’m doing chores or driving to work or running on the treadmill. I get so much more reading time in because of audio books. I recently switched from Audible to Libro.fm so that I can support my local book store. Check it out!

Lady Hardcastle Mysteries - I just finished the second book of the series, and I am in love! Light, easy reading with witty banter between Lady Hardcastle and her ladies maid, Flo. I pretty much love any book with a snarky female main character.

Thymes Frasier Fir Candle - Bring the outside in. This fragrance is subtle, mild, and earthy. I am a huge fan! It works well to overcome the stink of my 13 year old dog.

Chocolate Raspberry RXBars - These are a life saver if you want a protein filled snack to get you through the afternoon without any icky ingredients or added sugar. They come in a bunch of different flavors, but I love chocolate raspberry. They don’t taste like your typical protein bar. I found a great deal on these bars at my local Grocery Outlet, but you can order other flavors on Amazon.

Fresh Cut Flowers - Fresh flowers just brighten my day right up! And smell good too. I usually go for sunflowers, tulips, and garden roses… But whatever I can find at the grocery store for less than $15 is great!

Tone It Up - This workout app saved me at the beginning of the pandemic when the gym was closed. It has great at home workouts with limited equipment needed. It also has programs you can follow and nutritious recipes. It does require a subscription. I still use it to do a few workouts a week and then head to the gym a couple of times a week now that it’s open.

Santa Cruz Organic Creamy Peanut Butter - This is my FAVORITE peanut butter. I tested several other brands, and this has the best flavor. And on the plus side, you only have to stir it once to incorporate the oil… then it stays pretty well mixed unless you let it sit for ages. It also has zero sugar added.

Sorel Boots - With the winter weather we have been having it is important to have warm, dry feet. I love my Sorels. They are comfortable and keep my feet dry… And they are cute! I have the short version, but one day I will get the tall ones for the big snow storms.

Thred Up - Refresh your wardrobe for less. Thred Up is basically an online thrift store. They have all types of clothing, shoes, and accessories. They even have designer clothes and bags at a fraction of the price of new. Use the link above to receive $10 to shop.
