10 ideas to keep kids busy on a rainy day
Winter is here and on rainy (or snowy) days it’s nice to have some indoor activities on hand to keep the little kids busy and away from the tv. Here are some things that our family loves:
Highlights Hidden Pictures - My daughter loves these finding books! Some even have stickers which makes it even more fun.
Drawing Pad - It’s always nice to have unlined paper on hand for the kids so they can do their art projects.
Honeysticks Beeswax Crayons - Great for little hands! And they smell good too!
Tempera Paint - A little goes a long way which means these paints last a long time. Also, they are washable… Which is super important!
Honeysticks Water Colors - For the more advanced child check out these all natural water color paints.
Janod Bikloon Toddler Bike or Bixe Balance Bike - We let our kids ride their bikes up and down the hall in our house… These bikes are primarily their indoor bikes, although we have ventured outside with them and then cleaned the wheels really well so they can ride inside again. My 15 month old son loves (LOVES!) the Bikloon. It’s easy to get on and off and steer. My 4 year old thoroughly enjoys her Bixe balance bike and is so proud of herself for being able to carry it herself.
Melissa & Doug Floor Puzzle - These puzzles are perfect for the shorties in your life! With large pieces that can be assembled on the floor these puzzles are perfect brain builders.
Magnetic Tiles Building Blocks - It’s funny to see the difference between the way my husband and I help the kids build with these magnetic blocks. My husband, the welder/fabricator, is much more 3D minded than I am. My creativity comes out much more linear.
Bubbles - Fun for all ages! And if you spill on the floor it’s just an excuse to wash it!
Indoor Tent Camping - Pitch a youth tent, put some blankets and toys in, zip up the door, and your children are contained and happy! Maybe make some hot chocolate too!
This post is brought to you by our youth sized tent in which my kids are currently entertaining themselves. Happy playing!
